Wednesday Pool Night and Thursday Club Dives.
Just as the Thursday night club dives at Dosthill were getting to be as much of an Aquasport social evening as a dive! They close Dosy on a Thursday! Fantastic!!!
We are going to try to arrange club dive on the last Thursaday of January. That's the 28th. We need a minimum of 15 divers and Jason is already at it signing up people for the PADI Night Diver Specialty so hopefully there will be a few coming through on that to swell the numbers. If not we'll just go for a curry instead! So any of you guys looking to come and join us just let me know, don’t worry if you haven’t got a buddy, we’ll sort you one out. If you’re a bit of a novice we will make sure there is a DM or Instructor to buddy up with and help you gain your confidence and experience in a safe and enjoyable way.
The Wednesday night pool sessions are looking a bit sad on numbers for a great big pool like Foxhollies. Remember that we have kept this pool on for you guys to utilise for refreshing your skills, learning new ones or just improving your swimming and keeping your fitness up. As I said before you need to use it or you will loose it and that would be a sad day.
Free Diver Training Workshops on the first Thursday of every month.
Due to popular demand we will start these again as soon as Dosy opens on a Thursday. We are going to repeat the Surface Marker Buoy workshop for anyone missed the last one and wants to have a play with an SMB and reel. That will be a great way to get a bit of experience before we head off to the coast in March. There will be members of staff there to stop you making cats cradles with the line and we will have several different types of reels and SMB for you to try out. These workshops are free to anyone who has completed their training with Aquasport.

Divefest 2010.
Okay, Divefest was a bit of a washout with force 8 gales and horizontal rain! But 60 brave souls tackled the downpours and made it to Pentewan Sands anyway, one mad fool (mention no names Nigel) even went on his motorbike. With the diving called off on both days we had to make our own entertainment and judging by the amount of coverage Aquasport has had in this months Dive magazine, I think we struck a cord with the organizers as to taking the weather in our stride and enjoying ourselves regardless.
This year Divefest (or just Fest as we call it) is going to be bigger and better. Now spanning the three days of Mayday bank holiday there is more time and more stuff to do. Aquasport will be there again although this year we may not be booking any boats directly. Depending on numbers going we may just leave that up to you experienced guys to book your own although we will help you all get sorted with your dives.
Portland Fish and Ships Weekend 13th and 14th March.
The next Portland Fish and Ships trip is on the weekend of March 13th and 14th. For all the details of the trip please check out the UK Travel page on the website. This trip is ideal for any level of diver as we plan the dives to suit your level of experience. We normally have at least two boats running, one for the easier inshore stuff for those of you will little or no experience of UK diving and a second boat doing a bit more experienced offshore dives.. The cost includes your four boat dives and two nights B&B. There is an opportunity to do some specialties on this trip so ask what is going on when you book, or check out the website for more information. Novice boat £145. Experience boat to be confirmed based on the dives
Farne Islands 17th and 18th April.
We’re now taking bookings for the next Farne Islands trip. The Farne Islands are good for those who have some experience of UK diving and diving from a RIB. We have got the boat booked and B&B sorted. The cost of the trip is £145.
If you don’t have enough experience for a Farne Island trip, don’t despair. Get onto the March Portland trip to get your dives up and jump on one later. Lots of seals in the water last year with great visibility and plenty of sea life for the happy snappers.

Technical Training Evening Presentation with Aquasport International.
We will be hosting a short, one evening seminar to give interested divers an overview on technical diving. The talk will be aimed at anyone new to the sport and looking to getting into technical diving, or already starting down that route and needing a bit of guidance on where to go next.
We will be talking about several subjects including the training and equipment requirements for the individual and where to go and what to do once your training is complete.
As I said in the last newsletter, we will shortly be releasing a full schedule of technical training programmes on our website. We will be offering DSAT as well as IANTD and ANDI technical programmes up to instructor level, from basic to full Trimix programmes on both open and closed circuit systems.
