NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC GOLD

Becoming a National Geographic Open Water Diver with Aquasport International means you are joining the ranks of the diving elite and discovering a world unknown to others. National Geographic is synonymous with quality and adventure and the NG Diver programme carries on this exciting tradition. Exploration is an integral part of this programme as 7/10 of the surface of the world is covered by water, much of it yet unexplored.

If you are already a qualified diver you can still benefit by completing the National Geographic Diver Portal. This means you can complete the extra sections needed to qualify for the NG Diver certification and take on the challenge of this exciting programme.

As with the PADI Open Water Diver programme, this is the first step on the diving education ladder. This qualification is recognised worldwide and qualifies you and your buddy to dive without an instructor, to a recommended maximum depth of 18m.

The National Geographic Diver certification can only be issued through a PADI National Geographic Dive Centre. There are only around 100 PADI National Geographic Dive Centres worldwide.

Action

What will I do?
The National Geographic Diver’s journey begins with the knowledge and skills learned in the PADI Open Water Diver course. Once this foundation is laid, additional skills are learned that enhance exploration, discovery and adventure -- the primary reasons we all began scuba diving in the first place.

The real application of your newfound skills however is the Exploration Project, which is the culmination of all you will have learned throughout your PADI National Geographic Diver Program. This practical experience will change the way you dive. Most importantly, it will give you a new appreciation for our underwater world and how to preserve it so others can enjoy its beautiful and majestic features for years to come.

As with the PADI Open Water Diver programme, your instructor will teach you the basics, taking your first scuba sessions in a heated pool and you will learn the theory needed to allow you to dive safely. Then you will move onto the open water dives at a local dive site where you will demonstrate your skills over four exciting open water dives. You will be using drysuits for your open water dives to provide maximum comfort and as you will use them for all your future UK dives why not start as you mean to go on.

With the National Geographic Diver programme, you then go on to the Exploration Project. You will also complete at least two more open water exploration dives where you will learn more about a diver’s most important skills, buoyancy and navigation. You will also cover basic underwater digital photography techniques and of diving with Dive Computers. This will allow you to safely extend your bottom time of your recreational dives.

All the PADI and National Geographic Diver materials and scuba equipment needed to complete the programme are included in the cost.

Time

How long will it take?
