PADI Advanced Open Water Gold

PADI Advanced Open Water Gold

Welcome to the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Gold programme. Why miss diving on that wreck just because it lies at 28m, or hanging up your fins when October arrives because you have never used a drysuit? As you progress beyond the PADI Open Water Diver level, you will be moving up and experiencing adventures dives such as deep diving, wreck diving and much more. With your PADI Instructor you will build on the skills you have mastered and boost your confidence in the many areas of diving yet undiscovered.

With the Gold package the adventure begins in the same way as the normal PADI Advanced Open Water programme. You will complete your initial training over one weekend. You will then need an extra two days of training to complete the PADI Enriched Air Diver Specialty and the PADI Equipment Specialty. These are both one day classroom based specialties. On the Enriched Air Programme you will learn all about the benefits of diving on oxygen enriched air. The PADI Enriched Air Diver Specialty is the most popular PADI (and Aquasport) specialty. The PADI Equipment Specialty is ideal at this level as it not only gives you an overview of how all the scuba equipment you have been using works, it also gives you more of an insight into the equipment you may be looking at buying for yourself.

To Start

How do I get started?

As with the Open Water programme, all the scuba equipment you need is included in the cost of the programme. Just pick your dates and pay your £149 deposit and we will give you your PADI Advanced Open Water manual, the Adventures in Diving DVD and your adventure slate. You will also receive your PADI Enriched Air Diver crew pack which you will need to start this section of the programme.

What will I do?

You will complete two core dives, Deep and Navigation. These two dives are fundamental to your education. The Deep Dive extends your recommended maximum depth to 30m by allowing you to experience the effects of pressure at depth under the guidance of your PADI Instructor. The Navigation Dive expands on the skills you were taught in your Open Water programme.

In addition you will do three adventure dives from the Adventures in Diving manual. These include but are not limited to Drysuit, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Search & Recovery, Wreck, Digital Photography, Night and DPV. These dives can be arranged with your Instructor and fellow divers to suit the areas which interest you and the group the most.

A further two days of classroom sessions are needed to complete the PADI Enriched Air Diver and the PADI Equipment section of the Gold programme. These can be completed before, during or after your Adventures in Diving training. The choice is yours.

How long will it take?

This programme can be completed in as little as two weekends normally starting on a Friday at 6.30pm. Midweek dives and classroom sessions are also available by prior arrangement.

What will I need?

The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver programme is open to all divers holding an entry level certification equivalent to the PADI Open Water Diver (Junior Open Water Divers need to be a minimum of 12 years old).

It doesn’t matter if you have only completed your four open water qualifying dives or you have hundreds of dives in your log book. This programme has something for everyone.

A £149 deposit is required to book your Advanced Open Water Gold training and you will receive your PADI Adventures in Diving manual to start you on your way. You will need your own dive torch, which can be purchased from the shop at the start of your programme. It is always a good move to buy your own dive computer, but we will supply one for the weekend if you prefer.

You will also need to fill out a self certification medical statement. If you have any medical conditions you think may prevent you from scuba diving please feel free to contact us and we will try to be of assistance.

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Gold Programme £450.

A £149 deposit is required when you book your programme with Aquasport. Balance of payment is due two weeks prior to the start of your training.

Where To?

Where can I go from here?

The Advanced Open Water certification is the prerequisite qualification for the PADI Rescue Diver programme as well as several of the more in-depth specialties. Having already completed two PADI specialties during your programme you are well on your way to achieving the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating, the highest non professional certification in the PADI system of education.

The PADI Advanced Open Water programme also opens the door to many of the various levels of technical diving available here at Aquasport. Many divers have told us that this programme gave them the focus on which they have based the rest of their diving education.
